5 Ways to Increase your Site Traffic Now
No matter what business you are in, it’s all about traffic. The more traffic you are getting to your site, the more your business will grow, period.
Today’s confession is actually a list of 5 ways you can very quickly increase the traffic that comes into your web site. The beauty of this list is that they are all pretty easy to do, and none of it requires you to whip out your Visa.
- Create a “top-list”. Everyone loves to see what’s best. By creating a “Top 10 Places to Dine for Cheap”, you create buzz by making something people will share with their friends. What’s the best type of advertising? Word of mouth advertising. The only trick is to get people talking. Get creative with this, the possibilities are endless.
- Publish your crazy experiments. Ever wanted to see what would happen if you did that P90X system you keep hearing about? What if you wrote about your experience of eating dessert at as many restaurants as possible in a single evening? Maybe you could incorporate a survey into an experiment? Again, creativity is key, people love to read all about experiments.
- It’s all about the headlines. The first thing people see when they read content on your web site is the headline. The headline has to capture their attention and draw them in. You have only seconds to influence their decision to click and read more. Capture them with a killer headline. “Well, that’s great, Jason, but how do I come up with those great headlines?” Great question, and I’m glad you asked. Just look around, inspiration is everywhere. Every magazine you read, all the newspapers you subscribe to online, these are all great sources of inspiration. Other great places to look include Delicious, Digg, and PopURLS; these sites have all the headlines that have captured thousands and sometimes millions.
- Everyone likes a list. This idea is similar to number 1, but was great enough to get it’s own number. Examples of this could be “5 Places to Dine with WiFi”, or “3 Ways to Bait you Hook”, or “10 Reasons to Visit (ENTER YOUR DESTINATION HERE)”. I don’t know about you, but when I see a headline like that, it screams that it’s a quick, easy and informative read. You gotta love getting right to the point!
- Write for others. Guest writing is a great way to connect with other writers and make your name known. Most publications will allow you to include your web site in a by-line, plus this enables you (and your web site) to be seen by other audiences. Of course, there are teems of other pros, like the appearance of being larger than you really are, and link-backs.
