A Tribute to Our Northern Friends

What’s today, besides the Thursday before a long weekend? Well, it’s Canada Day! So today we look north to celebrate our friends.

Canada

The nation of Canada has made significant contributions to worldwide communications throughout the decades. Just a few of the things our neighbors have provided to the world include:

Alexander Graham Bell inventing the telephone phone while at his parent’s home in Brantford, Ontario. Without Mr. Bell, there would be no iPhone, so let’s give thanks!

The first Trans-Atlantic radio transmission was received in Newfoundland, by Gugliemo Marconi, forever changing the way we communicate.

Canada was also home to the production of the Blackberry, the smartphone so many of us known and love. It was developed by Ontario-based company Research in Motion (RIM).

Are there any other contributions from Canada you think we should mention? Feel free to comment and let us know! And click here to check out an extensive list of Canadian inventors.
