Study: Majority of Facebook Users Follow Brand Referrals
When it comes to a social media program, measuring ROI tends to be one of the most difficult challenges facing organizations. Other than website referrals, how do you REALLY know if you’re Facebook posts or Tweets are driving brand awareness?
Well, polling consumers is one way to go, and a recent study by research from Morpace found some encouraging news. According to eMarketer’s report on the study, “More than two-thirds of US Facebook users said a Facebook friend referral would increase their chances of purchasing a product or visiting a retailer.” That’s a big number.

What does this mean for organizations? Keep working to increase engagement with your fans, and in turn, their friends will follow. The best part about Facebook is that it’s automatically viral. 41% of survey respondents said they use fan pages to demonstrate what products they support – which is good news for your marketing strategy. A user becomes a fan, and all their friends see it, which will lead many to become fans in turn.
Additionally, the study showed that different races have different likelihoods of becoming fans of various pages. Check out the rest of the study here.
