Social Media Branding

Social media branding is a lot of work in the beginning, and you don’t have complete control of the outcome. In the traditional world, marketers or advertisers can create ads and buy media to define the brand. In today’s world it’s not what you say about yourself that matters, but what others say about you. You have to do the hard work and develop your brand and give people reasons to talk about it through social media.

The question is, how do you get others to talk about your brand online? Create Content, lots of content – as much content as possible! Content helps characterize your brand. For example, if you have 600 blog entries, your brand will have depth. Content also helps spread your brand across the world-wide web.

You also have to make sure to engage with Social Media. The majority of traditional advertisers approach social media sites like advertising, where they seek to broadcast their promotional message. That doesn’t work in today’s world. You have to engage with your followers and friends online and be able to discuss, comment and build relationships. By doing this you are building your brand and your followers/friends are helping to spread the word!
