So Long Sending Santa Letters to the North Pole…Hello Posting Your Wishlist on Facebook

In addition to those great deals we are all looking for this season, finding the perfect gift for everyone on your list can be equally as challenging. For those internet shoppers who typically research special offers, free shipping and coupon deals, the amount of time they spend looking might be cut shorter this year thanks to social networks.

Santa-Letter-2

According to research conducted by the Opinion Research Corporation and Yesmail, 27% of online shoppers who plan to both research and buy holiday gifts online this year will look for ideas about what friends and family want on sites such as Facebook, so drop those hints! And nearly one half (45%) will use social networks to research items, compare prices and look for offers. We estimate that Twitter will see an increase in visitation this season based on the amount of shared information that is posted through links.

About one-fifth of online holiday buyers are specifically looking to social networks for exclusive deals or free shipping and about 17% of consumers will use social media this holiday season. And just over one-half of that group will be between the ages of 18-29.
