Facebook Users Permitted One Time Change to Vanity Username

Initially told that once you pick your username, it will be yours forever, Facebook has amended that rule to allow users to make a one time change to something better.  As discussed on InsideFacebook, this resulted likely from an overwhelming response by users in contempt with what they chose, citing one guy who wasn’t thinking about future employment when he chose facebook.com/boner.  Imagine telling your new boss when asked what your facebook url is, dude.

At this time, there doesn’t seem to be anyway to change the url of your Facebook Fan Page, but this all begs the question: How long before we can change that too?  And, why did they bend on this rule?  Not allowing users to change a username isn’t all that uncommon.  Afterall, Flickr won’t allow you to change your username url.

So, how do you change this here username of yours?  Easy. Once you log into Facebook, hover your little mouse over “Settings” until you get the drop down, them mosey your mouse on down to “Account Settings“.  Then, second from the top is a new category called “Username“.  Click on that and you’ll see this:  Choose your new username carefully. You can only change your username once. So, choose wisely, or you may just get stuck with what you pick, until Facebook changes their mind again.
