Facebook Dominates…but for How Long?

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced some very impressive news – Facebook has reached 350 million users as of this December!

If you think that’s amazing, what’s even more astonishing is the speed of how Facebook has managed to reach this number and essentially defeat all of its competitors, including the once almighty MySpace. I have to admit, I was once was a big MySpace user, until Facebook took over!

Back in August 2008, Facebook had 100 million users. It took about five months to reach 150 million, and after that Facebook has been adding 50 million users roughly every three months, going from 150 million to 350 million in less than one year! I guess what they say is true, everyone and their momma is on Facebook! J

When it comes to social networking sites, it’s hard to stay on top of things with so much competition on the web; one day you hear about a new site then before you know it, it’s another site that’s hot at the moment. But, Facebook continues to grow bigger and bigger. Will they dominate the world of social networking indefinitely? Or will it be just a matter of time before a new social networking site dominates Facebook, just like Facebook has dominated MySpace?
