Another Google Product

Has Google created the new interface in social networking? Google’s new social media product has everyone buzzing about Google Buzz. Many will call this a Twitter killer or a threat to Facebook, but suggestions that Buzz will kill them are overblown. Google has tried to succeed with social products that just haven’t caught on. There’s no guarantee Google Buzz will be any different.

Photos and videos shared by your contacts will show up in the Buzz interface. You can control who sees your own updates and you can have Buzz display updates from other sites like Twitter, Picasa, Flickr, or Google Reader. Sounds like the perfect all-in-one social interface! So that your contacts can go directly to a single post  anything you share has its own URL.

Google has also launched a version for mobile phones, and in this format it seems to have a more compelling value proposition. More on that to come with future blogs on Google Buzz.

To some degree, this may be successful in attracting the Facebook  and Twitter audience to make the switch. But will dedicated and loyal Facebook and Twitter users make the switch to a product that doesn’t seem to be anything new and innovative?
