Twitter Search Function Now Live on Bing
Yesterday, Bing announced that they had struck a deal with Twitter and Facebook to make status updates searchable by the popular new engine. And true to the speed of the internet, the Twitter search function is now live on Bing, and can be tested here.
The Facebook functionality is next on the list for Bing.
The new Twitter search function allows users to follow the most popular topics on Twitter, simultaneously discovering new Tweeps and giving searchers the ability to dig out the most obscure of information. So what does this mean? We just became even more interconnected!
If you thought your Twitter posts and Facebook updates were just for a select few, think again! So not only are your personal Tweets about to reach a whole new audience, but your brand’s messaging will as well. Terrific news for marketers!
A couple tips for the new functionality:
• Try to integrate popular topics into your Tweets and status updates – just like SEO, this will help your content rank higher and draw more attention in Bing (and shortly, the other engines as well - Google is next.
• Tweets are searchable by time and relevancy. According to Mashable, “Microsoft is using information such as the number of retweets, captions, the quality of tweets, and keywords in order to sort tweets by relevancy.” So, it’s more important than ever to drive Re-Tweets! Make your Tweets shine, and get better rankings on Bing!
Take advantage of yet another opportunity to spread your marketing message even further across the world wide web. And remember, when Tweeting on your personal account about what you had for dinner last night . . . those 140 characters aren’t quite as anonymous, anymore.
