‘Flip’ Over Page Turning Technology

Virtual Visitors GuideAny savvy media company should constantly be on the prowl for new and engaging web technology that can lasso users’ interest before their attention starts to wander. And on that note, Google just announced the utilization of a new product entitled “Flip Format” – a technology that we’ve been avid fans of since ’08.

The product allows users to read online news stories by flipping pages and engaging with content, instead of being forced to click through page by page and deal with load times. The idea is to charm the average user with the latest in engagement technology, making online reading more fun and less frustrating. Google is hoping that this advancement will eventually help drive more advertising revenue to publishers.

Page-turning, flip book technology has been one of our favorites for quite awhile. For our clients, we use services similar to “Flip Format” that allow users to turn the pages, zoom in on their favorite spots, click through to linked websites, print the content and even share it with friends.

Panama City Beach was one of the first to have this cutting-edge technology incorporated in their website. Their 2009 Visitor’s Guide was transformed into a flippable book, with live links, zoom ability, quicker load time and much more. Click here to check it out.

At JB Inc., we are constantly working to stay ten steps ahead when it comes to the discovery of products like these that can help our clients’ message shine bright. We’re here Google, if you need any ideas. :)
