What I’m Thankful For This Year – Kristen Cruz

I’m kicking off a week long series from our team at JB Inc. titled “What I’m Thankful For this Year” in the spirit of Thanksgiving. We’re excited to get the chance to share our personal thanks with all of you and I’m keeping mine very personal this year.

I’ll start by saying that working with an amazing group of talented and creative people every day is something I’m thankful for every day. I have been blessed with a career doing something I love to do that keeps the doors wide open for new ideas and inspiration. Every day is a new day with new opportunities. I am VERY thankful for that. There is never a dull moment.

I’m also thankful for the friends I have made in the DMO world that in any other career I might not have ever known. They keep me motivated and inspired in ways that I never imagined I could be ten years ago. Thank you tourism industry friends, you are all very dear to me. You all know who you are.

I also want to point out that this year my ten year old did a project a school that involved telling his class about his family, his home life and what he loves most about Mom and Dad. He did this all at school, I had no idea it was even going on, but I got to see the finished product at parent teacher night. He wrote an amazing story about how he loved his family, the move to NYC and his little sister more than anything in the world. He also dedicated half the page to talking about Mommy’s job and how he wanted to do the same thing when he grew up. It made me feel accomplished and also inspired to show my kids that having a career doesn’t mean giving less to your family, but sharing the accomplishments of that career encourages them to want to do better in every aspect of their lives.

I have a blessed life, family, friends and team that I might not have ever had if fate had taken a different turn. That is what I am MOST Thankful for this year.
