What I’m Thankful For – Hannah Sentenac
For me, one of the most enjoyable parts of the Thanksgiving holiday (besides entering a food coma and watching lots of football) is writing out my yearly list of the things I’m thankful for. It’s always long and mushy, and it gives me the warm fuzzies to recite it on Thanksgiving, and remember all those reasons why life is so good.
This year, as usual, I have lots and lots to be thankful for. Family and friends I simple adore, an incredible job with the world’s coolest company, co-workers and clients, loads of great industry milestones and interactive developments on the horizon . . . all in all, it’s great. So, thanks universe.
But narrowing my focus a little bit, I wanted to pin down one particular vocational development that I most appreciated this year. There are so many – social networking sites, fun tech products, kitschy widgets . . . but the truth is, there’s one thing I use more than anything else in my daily work and life, and that’s the all-powerful Google.

What would I do without the magic of Google? How did we live before we had it? You may recall, I wrote a blog post about such a thing several moons ago. And now that it’s officially thank you time, I have to give a shout out to the amazing wonder of the search engine that solves all my problems.
What should I eat? Where should we go on vacation? What’s the name of that obscure song of which I only remember three words? How many people mispronounce the word “Ronkonkoma?” All the answers are there, at my greedy little fingertips. I know many people use a Google bar in their browser, thus simplifying the process and never having to visit Google.com, but not me. I enjoy visiting the site 100x a day, seeing the cool logo changes the Google people have enacted (such as the recent Sesame Street tribute).
In the end, I don’t know what I’d do without Google, so thanks Googleplex, for churning out such an amazing product. And additionally, JB Inc. has recently “Gone Google” (watch for an upcoming blog post on said topic), so I have even more to be thankful for, now that Google handles my calendar, my tasks, my email, my work chat and much more.
