“Surface” Marketing vs. “Spring” Marketing

Sometimes you have to think about the way you market much like the way you clean. There are “surface” marketers…the ones who dust the surface of your web site with optimization, post information to your social sites once every week or so and the kind that feel once they’ve swept through the bare essentials that week, it’s time to return home and come back next Tuesday.

Then there are the “Spring” Marketers. Those who pick up and dust underneath, move things around to make sure they don’t miss any spots, stay a few days to really get to the nitty gritty of the core…the one who makes the effort to organize and sort through the mess before they begin their work.

The difference between the two is obvious but when it comes back to the work of a marketer, it either makes the marketer or breaks him. Marketing is not a surface job, it’s a deep thorough job that should be started from the bottom up. You can’t clean a dirty house if you haven’t moved everything out and cleaned the floor first, then cleaning each piece before it’s returned into the house.

Compare the job or your marketer to “Spring” cleaning and ask yourself, Is my house clean? Is it ready for summer?

Is It?
