Taking a Sneak Peek at Super Bowl XLVI Commercials

As football season comes to an end, the anticipation of Super Bowl XLVI is growing.  Most people are beginning to place their bets on how the Super Bowl will pan out, but I’m not really partial to either of the teams, so I am looking forward to the best part….the commercials!  For those of you who haven’t kept up this season, we are looking at a Super Bowl face-off between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

As one of the most coveted commercial slots of the year, companies shell out millions of dollars for a 30-60 second commercial.  We should just call it an expensive battle among advertisers to see who can be the most creative or ballsy.  These commercials will be analyzed, replayed, reposted, and the good ones will go viral after they air.  Anyone remember the Darth Vader commercial put out by Volkswagen last year? To date, that commercial has well over 49 million YouTube views.  Yes, I said million!  But fear not!  Volkswagen has purchased a 60 second commercial spot this year that will air during the beginning of the third quarter.  Let’s see if they can compete with their success from last year!

So who else is in the line up this year?  According to Business Insider, we should expect to see the usual’s: Anheuser-Busch, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, General Motors, GoDaddy.com, PepsiCo, Toyota, Skechers, Mars Inc.–M&Ms, Hyundai, Cars.com, Career Builder, Bridgestone Tires, Best Buy, and Audi.

Who is making their commercial debut this year? Boasting to be one of the healthiest snack choices, Dannon Yogurt will make their first Super Bowl commercial appearance in the third quarter.  Entertainment Weekly reports that the NBC hit The Voice will debut a unique and non-traditional commercial during the game.  Century 21 is another newbie this year and is slated to play a 30 second commercial in the third quarter.

If you are the type to place bets, the Giants are favored to win by 3 points according to www.betvega.com; however, I plan on placing my bets on the commercials this year!
