Online Holiday Spending on the Rise

Another recession Christmas, right? Well, there’s GOOD NEWS on the online horizon …

Looks like e-commerce spending is on the rise! This year might just make the record books. According to an E-Marketer article: “A new comScore survey reported that, for holiday season retail e-commerce spending for the first 41 days of the November – December 2009 holiday season, $19.9 billion has been spent online, marking a 3% increase versus the corresponding days last year.”

Hoorah for online shopping! What does this mean? Shoppers are looking to the internet to solve their shopping woes! Deals, deals, deals are the order of the day. This also means shoppers are spending more time online as they make their many holiday purchases, which leads to increased ad viewing! A stellar opportunity for marketers.

So it’s not all bad news and frowny faces, look on the bright side! So far, so good, this year. We’ll see what the final numbers have to say, stay tuned!
